Migrant Family Support Service (MFSS)
The Migrant Family Support Service (MFSS), established in January 2014 is a voluntary service with the aim to support Migrant Families who experience child protection interventions and empower migrant parents by providing culturally sensitive support and encouraging positive parenting practices. Our service is FREE and highly confidential with a key focus on achieving positive outcomes for Migrant families.
We provide practical and moral support for Migrant families and support positive engagement of parents with the Child and Family Agency (TUSLA) throughout different processes such as child protection interventions, reunification process, court orders, safety plans, educational needs and family support networks. Cultural support is also offered to foster families and social workers who engage with Migrant Families.
We Provide:
1. Information and Support for migrant families with children in care or currently experiencing child protection interventions to support families:
- Understand child protection law in Ireland
- Engage positively with the Child and Family Agency and receive the support needs to achieve successful outcomes
- Advise and practical tips on positive parenting in Ireland
- Information and support on housing applications, immigration, medical care services, social welfare payments
- Encouraging parents to access services available
- Empowering families to achieve positive outcomes for their children welfare, safety, and education

- Outreach to families, communities, and Direct Provision centre
2. Awareness raising about Child Protection practices in Ireland for migrant and religious community leaders and migrant NGOs:
- Child Protection Training
- Information sessions
- Information literature
- Information about Tusla-Child and Family Agency services
3. Cultural support for front line professionals (such as TUSLA Staff) and others, including foster parents:
- Information provisions, helpline and meetings
