New Foundations’ scheme 2014 Support Strand ‘Engaging Civic Society
01 October 2014
The Wheel are delighted to announce an exciting partnership with the Irish Research Council to deliver a unique new strand under their ‘New Foundations’ scheme 2014 entitled ‘Engaging Civic Society’.
To address the broad skills and research needs within society, the Research Council supports excellent early stage researchers across all disciplines via a suite of competitive research funding schemes. Another key area of activity for the Council is the funding of research projects with a societal focus via partnerships across government and civic society.
The Council’s New Foundations programme supports eligible researchers within and across a spectrum of academic disciplines. It does this through the provision of support for research actions, the development of networks, conference development and/or attendance, workshops and more general dissemination activities designed to better communicate the outcomes and values of academic research in Ireland and beyond.
The ‘Engaging Civic Society’ strand will support small, discrete collaborative projects between postdoctoral or senior researchers (acting as the applicant to the Council) and a community/voluntary group. Awards for this strand are valued up to a maximum of €10,000. Applications to this strand should develop a research idea or project, test a concept or theory and/or develop partnerships or activities. For more information, see the terms and conditions of the New Foundations scheme here.
Community/Voluntary groups interested in participating in this initiative should, in the first instance, visit The Wheel website for further information.
The closing date for applications is 14 November 2014.
