Business in the Community Ireland- Pre-Employment Training starting in August 29th
17 August 2016
Business in the Community Ireland is the network for responsible business and advises companies nationwide on how to be more responsible and sustainable. It also focuses on how Irish business can have a positive impact on society, particularly in the areas of Education and Employment. Regarding employment, we run programmes to increase integration and social inclusion. We do this by offering pre-employment training, one to one support and opportunities for work experience to support jobseekers.
So far during 2016 and working in cooperation with companies such as Accenture, BT, CPL, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, KPMG and Workday, our EPIC Programme has provided pre-employment training for 121 immigrants and has placed 99 in employment, 14 in education and 27 in work placements/volunteering roles.
The trainings start every 3 weeks and we have 4 starting before the end of the year on the following dates:
| Start Date | End Date |
Group 11 | Aug-29 | Oct-07 |
Group 12 | Sep-19 | Oct-28 |
Group 13 | Oct-10 | Nov-18 |
Group 14 | Nov-01 | Dec-09 |
Our 6 weeks training is tailored to immigrants’ needs and covers topics such as CV and cover letter writing techniques, telephone skills, interview preparation and IT Skills. It also covers information sessions on topics such as employment rights and entitlements, social welfare and access to health, to facilitate networking, understanding of the Irish system and to promote social integration. Participants also access one-to-one support sessions on the various steps required in seeking new employment or education and can benefit from work experience opportunities.
“Epic helped me to understand the way I can research the job I would like to do, how I can do my CV & Cover Letter appropriately for the companies and recruiters. Also prepared me for future interviews” (Roberto secured employment in the IT sector)
We also have Ready for Work, an employment programme supporting people with high barriers such as experiences of homelessness, addiction, time in prison or mental ill health to gain employment. It provides training, guidance and supported work experience in a company.
Finally, Career LEAP is a programme for young people in the north east inner city providing work readiness training and supported work placement opportunities.
